Seasons

From birth we go through seasons
Accepting on faith God’s reasons
For the seas we sail on in our quest
Seeking riches, health and happiness.

In our youthful spring we marvel
At our new world as we revel.
Sailing on seas calm and blue
With parents as captain and crew.

In the long summer of mid-life
There is strife just to survive,
As we feel the joy and strain
Of living through life’s rain.

In fall and winter of our years
We are thankful for being here.
The golden years of retirement
Brings peace and contentment.

When the sunset of our lives fade
We ponder the choices made,
Praying our many mistakes
Not keep us from heavens gate.

Yes, quickly do our years pass
From first breath until the last.
Fleeting as a sparrow through air
First we are here – Then we are there.
