There’s My Daddy
“THERE’S MY DADDY”
I’m waiting for you,
My Sweetheart
Each and everyday
I ask the Lord
to keep you safe,
every time I pray
And my prayers
are so many
The number
I cannot recall
Your letters
I read over again
You know, I have
kept them all
Your picture
here beside me
I miss you
so very much
I long to hold you
in my arms
To feel your
gentle touch
Our children look
out of the window
They miss you so much, too
Every person passing by
They are hoping
it is you
Our youngest one
such a dreamer
“There’s my Daddy”
She says to me
In my heart I just know…
“That is what she hopes to see”
“No, my Sweet Little One,
Daddy’s not coming home yet”
Your picture
I always show her…
So she’ll not forget
I lean down to give her
a hug and a kiss too
I glance outside
through the window…
My Love,
it really is you
Tears of joy
fall down my face
“Thank You Lord”
I pray
“You kept him safe
in your arms,
You brought him home today”
