His Eyes
The multitude
was not subdued
with Jesus on display.
So I pushed near,
to better hear
what they all had to say.
It was his task
that Pilate ask,
Are You King of the Jews?
With Jesus mute
there was dispute
and so the crowd would choose.
Barabbas won,
so on the run
good Peter tried to hide.
The time was grim
when asked of him,
but three times he denied.
Now at the cross
was greater loss
with torture and with pain.
From crown of thorn
to nails and scorn,
would someone please explain?
Though not His fault,
they would not halt.
Was this unstoppable?
I called His name
so I could blame
the one responsible.
Above the din
I asked again,
“Oh, whose sin it could be?”
Through blood and sweat
I won’t forget
when His eyes turned to me.
Turn Your Eyes Upon Jesus · Amy Grant (Lyrics)
[Chorus] Turn your eyes upon JesusLook full in His wonderful face
And the things of earth will grow strangely dim
In the light of His glory and grace [Verse 1] O soul are you weary and troubled?
No light in the darkness you see?
There’s light for a look at the Savior
And life more abundant and free [Verse 2] Through death into life everlasting
He passed, and we follow Him there
Over us sin no more hath dominion
For more than conquerors we are [Chorus] Turn your eyes upon Jesus
Look full in His wonderful face
And the things of earth will grow strangely dim
In the light of His glory and grace [Verse 3] His word shall not fail you, He promised
Believe Him and all will be well
Then go to a world that is dying
His perfect salvation to tell [Chorus] Turn your eyes upon Jesus
Look full in His wonderful face
And the things of earth will grow strangely dim
In the light of His glory and grace [Outro] Oh, turn your, oh, turn your
